Keeping up with Google
You have probably noticed that Google has recently changed the display and layout of their search pages and what
has previously been known as Google Listings has now become Google Places.
In the past, the Google Listings map was at the top of the organic listings and the Google paid sponsor AdWords
‘Pay Per Click’ adverts on the right side of the page.
However, we now see the map is in the top right hand corner BUT – and this is the major change – Google Places
results are now mixed in with the organic results and look like the natural organic listings.
So what does this mean for You and Your Business?
Simply – one thing – you need to get your Google business places/listings up to date and submitted fully to the
maximum allowable. You need to have a high business/places listing as well as a high ranking website to stay ahead
of your competition.
Up until now, simply submitting a business listing with your business name, a website, maybe operating hours and
any other relevant information has been sufficient.
You may find in your industry, this is still enough to keep your business places/listing ahead of your
competition – but not for long. Google now allows for much more than this ie photos, videos,
reviews and links.
To keep ahead of your competitors your Google Placings need to be updated properly as soon as possible, and then
continuously monitored to ensure you get into the places listings and obtain as high a ranking as possible.
So - with a properly set up places listing you are well on the way to getting results, visitors to
your Google page and the business calls you want.
Google is always looking for ways to change and improve their service and it is often difficult to keep abreast
of their changes. You can either react to this change or do nothing,
obviously the choice is yours.
However, if you choose to do nothing I believe some of your competitors will change and therefore will gain
higher business/places rankings than you.
If you want to take action, I can take care of setting up your business listings properly for you and have
already invested heavily in the research and tools to do this.
This is not a small task and if instructed, I will work on your business/places listing over a period of 30
days. Because of the time consuming manual work involved there is a cost for this necessary
service. To undertake the above there will an initial set-up fee and then a low monthly fee to maintain
the listings.
